Claudia Zamora-Valencia uses ethnography and visual arts to approach social and historical processes. Her work focuses on the relationships between development and nature on the coast of Oaxaca, infrastructure and the Mexican state, and migration and labor markets in the U.S. Claudia is a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at Temple University, where she studies the effects of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec Interoceanic Corridor through the modernization of the seaport of Salina Cruz in Oaxaca. She earned an MFA from Hunter College (CUNY) and a licenciatura in cultural anthropology from the University of the Americas-Puebla, graduating cum laude. Her thesis received an honorable mention in the Fray Bernardino de Sahagún Award, from the Instituto Nacional de Antropologia e Historia.

Claudia has presented her research and films at conferences and festivals, including the American Anthropological Association, Latin American Studies Association, Society for Visual Anthropology, the Camden Film Festival, the Ambulante Film Festival, DOC NYC, UnionDocs, and PBS. Institutions such as the New York State Council on the Arts, Temple University, CONACyT, the Robert Lemelson Foundation, the Flaherty Film Seminar, and Latino Public Broadcasting have recognized her work through fellowships and grants. Since 2012, she has collaborated with organizations that advocate for the rights of immigrant workers. She is a member of Meerkat Media Collective and an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Old Westbury. Claudia is from Oaxaca and lives in New York City.

Claudia Zamora-Valencia utiliza la etnografía y las artes visuales para abordar procesos sociales e históricos. Su trabajo se centra en las relaciones entre el desarrollo y la naturaleza en la costa de Oaxaca, la infraestructura y el Estado mexicano, y la migración y los mercados laborales en Estados Unidos. Claudia cursa un doctorado en antropología en la Universidad de Temple, donde estudia los efectos del Corredor Interoceánico del Istmo de Tehuantepec a través de la modernización del puerto marítimo de Salina Cruz, Oaxaca. Obtuvo una maestría en cine documental de Hunter College (CUNY) y una licenciatura en antropología de la Universidad de las Américas-Puebla, graduándose cum laude. Su tesis recibió una mención honorífica en el Premio Fray Bernardino de Sahagún, del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH).

Claudia ha presentado su trabajo de investigación y sus películas en conferencias y festivales, como la Asociación Estadounidense de Antropología, la Asociación de Estudios Latinoamericanos, la Sociedad de Antropología Visual, el Festival de Cine de Camden, el Festival de Cine Ambulante, DOC NYC, UnionDocs y PBS. Instituciones como el New York State Council on the Arts, Temple University, CONACyT, Robert Lemelson Foundation, Flaherty Film Seminar y Latino Public Broadcasting han reconocido su trabajo mediante becas y fellowships. Desde 2012, ha colaborado con organizaciones que abogan por los derechos de las y los trabajadores inmigrantes.
